How to Use Boom Bold
First, while being careful to avoid direct contact with your eyes, apply the brush to the base of your lashes and wiggle while brushing up and through to the ends of your lashes.
Then, add a second layer after the first has partially dried for an even bolder look. Boom Bold layers without clumps or flakes for high-impact drama.
Remove using an oil-based eye makeup remover. Then wash with Boom Clean® to remove any remaining residue.

Great question! Here are the basic differences…
Boom Bright is our water-based mascara that separates, lengthens and defines your lashes with gentle, nourishing ingredients. It resists smudging and flaking but washes off easily with warm water or cleanser.
Boom Bold, on the other hand, is a waterproof mascara that adds volume and lift to your lashes for denser, fuller-looking lashes. Boom Bold stays on through rain, tears, humidity and sweat.
Boom Bright adds subtle definition in a soft black, while Boom Bold creates a bolder more dramatic look in jet black.
Boom Bold also has a more traditional mascara wand with full, stiff bristles that help add volume and lift the lash for a more dramatic look.

Boom Bold is a “clean-beauty formula” because it contains only safe, non-toxic ingredients that are gentle enough to be used on your lashes—and near your eyes.
We also commit to transparent labeling—that’s why you’ll never find hidden phthalates, parabens, soy, gluten or formaldehyde in our formula.
Instead, we include clean ingredients, like beeswax and carnauba wax, to create a gentler mascara that holds up to sweat, humidity, water and tears.
Boom Bold is also made without animal testing. In fact, all Boom products are cruelty-free—always have been, always will be.

Does Boom Bold replace Boom Bright?
That’s a great question—and the answer really depends on you.
If you prefer to wear a bold, volumizing, waterproof mascara every time you apply mascara, then yes, Boom Bold can replace Boom Bright in your makeup bag.
If you prefer to stick with a lightweight, nourishing and easy-to-remove mascara on most days, and choose bolder mascara or waterproof mascara on only specific occasions, then you could consider keeping both Boom Bright and Boom Bold on hand.
Is Boom Bold gluten- and soy-free? Is it vegan?
Yes! We formulated Boom Bold without common allergens like gluten and soy, so it’s gentle and suitable for everyone, even those with sensitive or reactive skin.
Boom Bold is not vegan as it contains beeswax.
Is Boom Bold tested on animals?
Absolutely NOT. Like all Boom products, Boom Bold is 100% cruelty-free.
How do I use Boom Bold?
Here are a few pro tips to get you started...
Before first use: Prime the wand by gently squeezing the tube around it or rolling it between your palms. Then unscrew the cap and twirl the wand gently inside the tube to coat it.
Next, carefully avoiding direct contact with your eyes, apply the wand to the base of your lashes and wiggle, brushing up and through to the ends of your lashes. Sweep upward as you brush to maximize lift.
Then, if additional volume is desired, allow the first coat to partially dry before adding another.
That’s it! In seconds you’ll add volume, lift and bold drama for any occasion.
Is Boom Bold environmentally friendly?
You bet it is.
First, we left out D5, otherwise known as cyclopentasiloxane. D5 is frequently added to cosmetics as an emollient. We chose not to include it because it’s considered a persistent, bioaccumulative and environmentally toxic ingredient.
Next, Boom Bold is packaged in a sugarcane plastic tube that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels the way conventional plastics do. It’s also 100% recyclable.
Finally, we continue to strive to make our shipping and packing materials ever more environmentally friendly. From our compostable mailers to our “green wrap” packaging, all of our shipping and packing materials are 100% recyclable or biodegradable.
How do I remove Boom Bold?
Boom Bold has a waterproof formula that is best removed with an oil-based eye makeup remover.
We suggest first applying your makeup remover and using a washcloth or cotton swab to wipe away the mascara. Then follow with Boom Clean to remove any remaining residue from your skin.
Is Boom Bold scented?
Boom Bold doesn’t have a scent. We left out added fragrance to avoid triggering sensitive skin or eyes.
Does Boom Bold come in any other colors?

Can I recycle Boom Bold once I’m finished with it?
Absolutely. Boom Bold is packaged in a 100% recyclable, sugarcane plastic tube that doesn’t rely on fossil fuel the way typical plastic does. Just clean out the tube with soapy water when done and place it with your other recyclable items.
You can even upcycle the wand by cleaning it and donating it to a wildlife rehabilitation center like this one.
How long will Boom Bold last? How long is it good once open?
Boom Bold’s shelf life is 12 months—-that’s how long it’s good after you buy it and before you open it.
Once Boom Bold is open, it can be used for up to 6 months. If you forget, just check the label: The PAO image will indicate how long a product like Boom Bold mascara can be used. In this case, the PAO will say “ 6 mo.”
