Almost 50 years ago, we celebrated the first Earth Day in the United States.
It was April 22nd, 1970. At the time, 20 million eco-conscious Americans showed up to support our Earth in cities across the nation.
In one voice, these eco-conscious Americans called for a cleaner, more sustainable Earth.
Of those 20 million Americans, an untold number of Boom women were in the crowds, supporting this beautiful planet. We know that because Boom customers have told us so.
Boom women have also phoned and emailed to tell us how passionately they care about the Earth today—and how their personal choices impact our planet.
Of course, they’re not alone. If you look around the globe right now, you’ll see women of all generations speaking out for the planet. Women are talking about sustainability and why it’s important. Baby boomers’ daughters and granddaughters are carrying on the movement that began with these eco-conscious women five decades ago.
BOOM! began with the pro-age revolutionary (and baby boomer), Cindy Joseph.
From the very beginning, Cindy was passionate about creating pro-age products for women of all ages. But Cindy was also passionate about nature—and the Earth we all share.
Cindy believed in living in harmony with this beautiful planet and all the creatures who live here. When she founded BOOM!, she instilled that value in our company.
From day one, Cindy set out to create Boom products for “environmentally conscious women.” For starters, that meant no animal testing of any kind.
She also insisted on using all-natural ingredients in our skin care.
She also insisted on using all-natural ingredients in our skin care. That means no extra chemicals. No binders. No parabens. No phthalates. Just pure ingredients that are healthy for your skin and the environment.
Cindy also wanted these ingredients to be sustainably sourced. That meant partnering with companies and individuals who cared about Earth as much as she did.
It continues today…
Today, we’re continuing Cindy’s legacy at BOOM! That means continuing to make small and large decisions that honor this planet.
We still choose all-natural or organic ingredients. But more than that, we look at the sources these ingredients come from.
For example, we continue to partner with holistic beekeepers who protect our bee populations—and provide all the bee ingredients for our skin care.
We use sustainably-sourced ingredients like wildcrafted witch hazel, organic extra virgin olive oil, organic shea butter and the purest organic essential oils from around the world.
Do you have a story to share?
We have heard some incredible stories from Boom customers who are passionate about protecting this Earth.
For example, we know one Boom customer who runs her own sustainable farm and apparel company in Maryland. (She loves that we use sustainably-sourced ingredients for Boomsilk and Boom Nectar!)
We know other Boom customers who are beekeepers working to protect bee populations over the long term.
Of course, we have heard from Boom women who were at the Earth Day celebrations in 1970. We’ve also heard from countless other Boom customers who care about all the ingredients we use and where they come from.
Now we’d love to hear from you, too.
Do you have a story to share about protecting the Earth? Were you perhaps at Earth Day in 1970? Or are you taking strides right now to be eco-conscious at home?
