As of this year, we’re printing our Boom materials on paper that supports the conservation of forests. So any time you receive a mailer from us, it will be printed on paper that supports sustainable forestry around the world.
For example, if you’ve ordered any of your Boom favorites lately, you likely received our Boom brochure. This multi-page Boom brochure was printed on paper that supports the renewal of forests worldwide. The same thing goes for all our mailers, inserts and even our Boom postcards.
A large percentage of this Boom paper is made from post-consumer waste (aka recycled content). The pulp that is not recycled comes from trees within sustainably managed forests.
In other words, most of the paper we’re using doesn’t even come from new trees. The part that does is from forests where people work to preserve the trees.
Let’s talk about why that’s important.
What is sustainable forestry?
In a sustainable forest, decision makers use the best possible Silvicultural practices to ensure there’s a balance of wildlife, habitat, environmental, and community needs. At the same time, they work to conserve the forest for generations.
As you might imagine, this is an art and a science.
Managing a sustainable forest has to be done in a very specific way. Otherwise, habitats can be destroyed, soil can be depleted, and water quality can decrease. Overall, resources can be taken and not replaced for the future.
Right now, deforestation and forest degradation is the second leading cause of carbon pollution. That’s why “maintaining our forests” is part of our overall sustainability efforts here at BOOM!
More eco-friendly reasons to use this paper…
This was an easy decision for us. By sourcing paper that supports responsible forest management, we are protecting the forest for years to come.
As an extra safeguard: We also only use paper that’s certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). If you’re not familiar with the FSC, it’s a third party non-profit organization that ensures all our paper is eco-friendly.
Beyond that, you also might notice that the ink we use on all our Boom paper is vegetable-based. We use vegetable-based ink for all mailers, brochures and postcards because it’s more eco-friendly than petroleum-based ink.
Also, we only use paper that you can recycle. So feel free to recycle any Boom mailers, postcards or brochures once you’re finished reading them.
Above all, we’re excited to use paper that promotes the long-term sustainability of our magnificent trees around the world.
We’ll have more Earth-friendly updates like this coming soon. In the meantime, what do you think of BOOM!, and everything we’re doing to live in harmony with the Earth?
