During her twenty-five year tenure as a professional makeup artist, Cindy Josephsays she “learned the skin on our bodies is the same from the top of our head to the tip of our toes. To protect, nourish and moisturize your whole body, all you need is one product, as long as it’s safe and does the job.”

To that end, she created her BOOMSTICK Trio: Glo, Glimmer and Color ($24.00 each; $68.00 sold together), as well as a luxurious cream. That cream, BOOMSILK ($32.00; 4oz), is the line’s core product. It does not contain sunscreen (but can be used with any sunscreen you choose) and can be applied around your eyes, on your face, over your lips and down your neck. Joseph says that by, “eliminating unnecessary and potentially harmful ingredients, such as, emulsifiers [used for keeping the components blended], mineral oil [a low cost petroleum by-product], glycerine [used for spreadability and continuous dampness], parabens and phthalates [preservatives], and sunscreens of any kind, you can be rest assured that BOOMSILK is pure, clean, safe and 100% organic.”

Now that you know what BOOMSILK doesn’t contain, here’s what it does have:

Organic extra virgin olive oil, organic beeswax, organic propolis, organic pollen, organic honey, and Vitamin E

“It’s created by beekeepers, on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, says Joseph, “Along with these magical ingredients, plenty of love and attention go into each pot for your safety and pleasure.” So, how does it stack up? I used it at night, around my eyes, as well as on my face and neck. And then I used it again the next day, under my sunscreen and foundation. Girls, I am loving this! The creamy, pale gold color and faint honey smell are so appealing. It goes on easily, feels great and absorbs well (I was actually tempted to eat it, but that’s just me.)

It might be a tad greasy for you twentysomethings, but for the rest of us, it’s a like a spa in a jar. I especially loved that a single product could do so many tasks. After I used it on my face, I tried it on my hands, elbows, legs (post-shaving!) and even feet — it was terrific for everything! This is now my new fave rave — cannot get enough of the stuff! Tuck it in your pocket for summer getaways; perfect for streamlining your packing!

Next up was the BOOMSTICK COLOR ($24.00). This is a sheer, berry colored stick that is said to flatter all skin tones. It’s based on a color that Cindy has used on photo shoots for over twenty-five years. I tried it on my cheeks — fantastic! Blended right in, and gave me a healthy, vibrant look even without foundation. As demonstrated in Cindy’s tutorial, I also used it on my forehead and neck. The overall effect was great: warm, healthy and natural-looking color. I was a little less keen about its effect on my eyelids (made me look like a victim of domestic violence, haha!) and lips (too subtle for me — I am strictly a red lip sort of gal) though I can see that it could work for others on these areas.



The second in the group is BOOMSTICK GLIMMER ($24.00). This is a subtle, sheer stick with a hint of color and a nice bit of sparkle to it. Again, the application was great — the stuff just glides on, no pulling or tugging at all. I used it over BOOMSTICK COLOR and got a nice, shimmery effect that was perfect for evening. I tried it on my eyes too — a bit muted for my taste, but could be nice for some. Same for the lips — it offers just a hint of sheen and color, so, for you au naturel gals, this one could work nicely. As I said above, for me it’s fire engine red and red only!



Finally, I tried BOOMSTICK GLO ($24.00). This one was kind of puzzling to me. I did not see what it did that the cream did not except that it was in stick formula, which might be handy for air travel. Otherwise, it seemed less useful than the others and does not seem to me to be essential. And it’s good to know that all the BOOMSTICKS are made with the environmentally conscientious woman in mind. “Confession time first.  I love make-up.  I do. It’s a thing I’ve done since I was ‘allowed” to wear some (in my teens).   I have tried just about every eye-color out there, I have tried high-end and “a-hem” low-end foundations (hey, you never know when the perfect one will show up) and I am pretty sure that I am addicted to lipstick.  Gloss, lip color, stain and more gloss. You name it.  Right now in my purse I have 10 different lip sticks and glosses. From Chanel to NYC.   I’ve even tried to plump up my lips with that burning plumper lipgloss, because my top lip is kind of thin (and getting thinner with age) but seriously I do not condone pain for the sake of a fat lip.  I’ve tried lotions from Dove to Dr. Perricone.  And moisturizer.  Oh, I will search high-and low for a good moisturizer.

Then I came across BOOM! by Cindy Joseph.  I found her name cross-posted on FB and contacted her office to see if they would send me some samples for my first review.  A few days later  a box arrived. In it was 3 small tubes, (can fit in your hand).  BOOMstick Glo, BOOMstick Color and BOOMstick Glimmer.  And a 4 oz jar of BOOMsilk.

I started with the tubes. The BOOMstick Glo  is made of all-natural ingredients; organic virgin oil, organic beeswax, vitamin E, organic pollen and organic propolis and ……  It glides over my skin and I looked very glowy.  I’ve since learned to use this sparingly.  I love it on my lips.

Second tube I tried was the BOOMstick Color.  This is meant to be the perfect color for any skin tone.  It can be used on your lips, your cheeks even your eyelids.  I tried all the spots (including high on my forehead and in the hollow of my neck).

The final tube is BOOMstick Glimmer.  I really love this champagne color.  It instantly makes my cheekbones glow.  I use it on my cheekbone, my clavacle, the corner of my eyes (inside and out) and on the lip color.  Love this!!!

And finally, the glorious BOOMsilk.  I have another confession to make here.  The BOOMsilk was meant to be a giveaway. But after I read about it I realized that it was one of the most important aspects of the BOOM! experience.   I made an executive decision and felt it would be better for me to review the moisturizer properly.  I have used this every night and sometimes in the morning for nearly two months. I’ve used it on my face and hands.  One of the reasons I was looking for something natural and moisturizing is that my skin is dry and I’ve noticed that it’s been looking dull. Not any more!!
